}Washington State is the third largest wine producer in the USA, but is still dwarfed by California. The state is renowned for its fruit production, made possible by the rain shadow if the Cascade mountains and irrigation. Summers are warm and without cloud, whilst winters are very harsh. Bordeaux blends have thus far taken the headlines, but Syrah and Ital;ian varieties also thrive here, along with aromatic whites.
