Vinos de Arganza

Bierzo is located in the far North-East of Lèon, although its climate is more similar to Gallicia, albeit slightly drier and milder. The main variety here is the red Mencia, a grape capable of greatness, whilst the best whites are from Godello, with flavours not dissimilar to those of Albariño. Arganza was founded in 1966, but only began producing its own wine with the 2000 vintage. It is a small family owned business and wines are made under the careful eye of Jose Luis Santin Vázquez, who in a short space of time has garnered fine reviews from the Peñin Guide and from Robert Parker.
