Hennessy - Jeroboams

Hennessy

Hennessy was founded in 1765 by Irish Jacobite military officer, Richard Hennessy, who passed it down to his eldest son, James, who in turn gave it the name Jas Hennessy & Co in 1813. Richard saw a commercial opportunity in Cognac’s eaux-de-vie which, in hindsight, was an incredible decision. By the end of the 18th century, Hennessy began exporting its wares across the globe, starting with the United State, moving to Australia and Southeast Asia in the early 19th century, then South America, Japan and China. By 1860, a quarter of cognac exports bore the Hennessy name. It is now the largest cognac producer, supplying 40% of the world’s cognac, equating to roughly 50 million bottles per year. The range incorporate VS at the entry level, working through VSOP and XO, before reaching the Paradis range, ending in the superlative Richard Hennessy.
