Emeritus - Jeroboams

Emeritus

Emeritus Vineyards was founded in 1999 by legendary vintner Brice Cutrer Jones when he acquired the Hallberg Ranch after selling his first winery, Sonoma-Cutrer. He was drawn to the property because the Goldridge soil and maritime influence make the ranch uniquely suited for creating a grand-cru-calibre Pinot Noir estate. It is now one of the premier vineyards in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley and is often behind many of the more recognisable names of Sonoma Pinot Noir as other producers fight for an allocation of fruit from Brice’s vineyards. Another unique factor which elevates the quality of Emeritus final wines is that all the vineyards have been farmed without supplemental irrigation – dry farmed – since 2011, a practice not common in California because there is little summer rainfall. This retains the individual nature of each vineyard site and allows it to shine through in the final wines.
