Domaine Georges Lignier

Georges Lignier is a thoughtful man with over 30 vintages under his belt. He is the cousin of Hubert Lignier and whilst his wines are less consistent than his cousin’s, they can be quite superb. He was joined in 2003 by his nephew, Benoît, who has bought more consistency to the property. There are 15 hectares from which 11 wines are made, including four Grand Crus and three Premier Crus and the style here is feminine and elegant, with fruit rather than oak to the fore. The domaine is the principle owner in the Clos des Ormes with two hectares.
