Dailuaine

Dailuaine Distillery was built in 1852 by William McKenzie. In 1884 it was reconstructed to become one of the largest in the Highlands but its major claim to fame is that is was at Dailuaine in 1889 that Scotland’s first Pagoda roof was built. Since then it has been reconstructed twice after fires, first in 1917 and then in 1959 when it was expanded from four to six stills. The distillery floor maltings were closed in 1983. It wasn’t until 1991 that the first official Dailuaine single malt bottling was released.
