Chateau Pradeaux

Château Pradeaux is the most traditional and one of the top two or three estates in the Bandol Appellation. Owned by the Portalis family since 1752, the 20 hectares of vines are located low down in the warmer coastal zone. Vines are old and yields are low here, with the grapes whole bunch fermented in cement tanks before the wine is aged for 4 years in old oak foudres. The resulting wine, from 95% Mourvèdre, tastes like a cross between Château de Beaucastel and fine Barolo, with complex and haunting developed flavours. The rosé is considered among the world’s finest and is to be found in many top French restaurants.
