Chateau le Devoy Martine - Jeroboams

Chateau le Devoy Martine

The Lombardo family were Vignerons in Sicily in the 19th century, who set up a wine estate in Tunisia in 1927. Marc and Joseph moved there to take over the family holdings in 1958, however they had to leave in 1964 when the country went through a spell of socialist collectivisation. At this point they bought a property of 40 hectares overlooking Lirac in an area known as Devoy. The property had once been in the possession of the Marquis de Martine, hence the name. Marc was joined by his daughter Veronique in 2008. The vineyards are all sustainably farmed, with the red varieties on south facing slopes and the whites facing north. Yields are low and winemaking a judicious blend of the old and the new.
