Bodegas Gouguenheim

This small family owned winery is located high in the Uco Valley in the Tupungato region of Mendoza province. The 42 hectares of vineyard are situated at around 3,500 feet above sea level and are planted to 8 different varietals. The variation between day and night temperatures here is over 20ºC, resulting in fruit with very ripe flavours yet great natural acidity. Patricio Gouguenheim was a top Buenos Aries banker before changing path and becoming a winemaker. The winemaking is a blend of traditional and modern with Patricio using traditional basket presses. Oak use is sparing with the aim of showcasing the pure fruit flavours. The Chardonnay sees just 3 months contact with French oak and is mineral rich and sophisticated.
