Roussillon

This fiercely Catalan region is far more mountainous than the Languedoc, drenched in sun and home of strong drying winds. Whilst rough and ready wine is made here, some stunning (and suprisingly elegant) reds are made here, from very old vine Carignan seasoned with Syrah and Mourverdre.
