Hanyu

Originally built in 1946, the Hanyu Distillery began producing whisky in the Scotch single malt style from two pot stills in 1980. The distillery was closed in 2000 but a small amount of these fine and rare single malts has been made available. Wash still: 4000 litres. Spirit still: 2000 litres. Wash backs: 4 x 6000 litres. Barley: Optic. 1st distillation: 800kg barley. Phenol level: light-medium (approx. 5-20ppm).
