Domaine Antonin Guyon

This is a large domaine based in Savigny-les-Beaune, but with holdings from Meursault to Gevrey-Chambertn. Founded in the 1960s when Antonin bought vineyards in various villages, it was then expanded by his son Dominique in the 1970s, with the purchase of 22 hectares in Meuilley in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. The domaine is still run today by Dominique, along with his brother Michel. They make a broad range of 20 wines, including 7 Premier Crus and 4 Grand Crus, and the average quality is remarkable for such a large domaine. Vinification is traditional, with around 25% new oak used for ageing. Whites spend 2 months in barrel (except the Corton Charlemagne which has 18 months in 40% new wood) and the reds have 15-18 months, except for the Bourgogne and Hautes-Côtes wines which get 12. Domaine Antonin Guyon is today one of the largely family owned domaines in Burgundy, owning a remarkable 48 hectares of some of the finest vineyards across the Côte d’Or. 2018 is an exciting vintage for the domaine and for us, it is the first where they will be organically certified, reflecting the painstaking work they conduct in their vineyards. Dominque Guyon has a tremendous knowledge of the wines of Burgundy, and today he is assisted in the cellar by Julien Millet, whose father is the cellar-master at Comte Georges de Vogüé in Chambolle-Musigny. We think that these are some of the most classically-styled, best value wines you can buy from Burgundy.
