Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse

A 5th growth of some 30 hectares in size, Grand Puy Ducasse is owned by the négocient firm of Cordier. The vineyard is planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot. After a traditional fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in oak, 50% of which is new. Recent years have seen the wines here obtaining more depth and backbone, possibly as a result of much needed investment and the second wine, Prélude, is a notable bargain.
