Joseph Perrier

Joseph Perrier founded his Champagne house in Châlons in 1825 and it remains in the same buildings today. In 1888 it was purchased by the Pithos family and remains in the hands of their decedents. Currently led by the engaging Jean-Claude Fourmon, they own 21 hectares of vineyards that supply 30% of their needs, with the remainder coming from growers, most of whom have supplied the family for three or four generations. One of the smallest of the Grande Marque houses, Joseph Perrier have never been great spenders on marketing and do not sell their wines to the big retailers, preferring to offer their wines to specialist independents and the on-trade, where their quality and value are better appreciated.
